
Desire2Learn Required Training for Instructors
Required Training for Instructors:
Instructors will automatically be assigned one of the required
training courses based on the type of course that an Instructor has
typically taught in the past.
No registration is required.
- Desire2Learn for Online & Hybrid Instructors: This online, self-paced training is designed to provide Instructors with the basic skills required to create, manage and deliver an online and/or hybrid course in Desire2Learn. This training takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
- Desire2Learn for Face-to-Face Instructors: This online, self-paced training designed to provide Instructors who teach face-to-face courses with the basic skills needed to use the gradebook and email functions as well as add a syllabus to a course in Desire2Learn. This training takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
***IMPORTANT NOTE: Workshops offered through the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) do NOT meet the training requirement.
Deadlines for Required Training:
Faculty members who will be teaching courses beginning Summer Semester (and all semesters henceforth) must complete the assigned online training in order for their courses to be activated in Desire2Learn.
- Teaching Summer 2012: Training must be completed by May 1, 2012.
- Teaching Fall 2012: Training must be completed by July 15, 2012.

Payment for Required Training:
- Adjunct Faculty: Adjunct faculty will be compensated at 1/2 their teaching rate for the Desire2Learn required training. Compensation will be for three hours for those completing Desire2Learn for Online & Hybrid Instructors and one hour for those completing Desire2Learn for Face-to-Face Instructors. Compensation will be provided by the Academic Affairs Division. You will need to work with your department support staff to submit your time to the Academic Affairs Division. The Instructional Leader for your division should have the appropriate FOAPAL to submit the time to.
- Full-Time Faculty: This training is considered to be part of a full-time faculty member's workload and additional compensation will not be provided.
