Computer Info Tech Networking & Information Security Program
| Beginning in Fall 2012, the Computer Information Technologies program will relocate to West Campus. The move is a result of the program's recent transition into the Technical Careers Division and will allow faculty and staff to institute a new strategy to better serve its students. |
| Those affected by the move include current students, faculty, staff, support services and any person doing business with the program. The Technical Careers Division is working on a plan to continue to serve all parties with minimal disruption throughout the transition. |

What does a Network Administrator do?
The Network Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
What does a Security Administrator do?
The Security Administrator's role is to ensure the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. This person will also analyze and resolve security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.
What certificates and degrees can you get from LCC for a career computer networking and information security?
The CIT Computer Networking and Information Security program contains course ware reviewed and certified to map to the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Training Standard 4011: Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professionals.
Currently there is a Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification Preparation (CCNA)- Certificate of Completion (Curriculum Code 1469) and Network & Security Management Academy - Associate in Business Degree (Curriculum Code 1453).
